The Game Plan

The Game Plan: Prayer

To connect with God, to discern His will, and to be empowered to do it boldly and effectively!

God’s Word for You: Ephesians 3:14-21 New Living Translation

14When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Monday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:14-15
I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  Eph 3:14-15 NLT

What is the significance of the “position” we take when we pray?  (For example: “falling to our knees”, standing, sitting, etc…)

What does it mean to you that when we pray, we are praying to our Father, who created EVERYTHING in heaven and on earth?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time right now to praise God for who He is:  Our Father; the Creator of EVERYTHING; our Savior and Lord through Jesus; the one who sustains and guides us through the Holy Spirit.  [This is a time to praise God for all He is, not just for what He does in our lives!]

Today’s Challenge:  I will live in a state of praise throughout the day, because of my relationship to the great God of the universe!

Tuesday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:16
16I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Ephesians 3:16 NLT

What does Paul say about the quality and quantity of God’s resources?

What does Paul pray that God will do for us through His resources?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time right now to ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and to empower you with inner strength through the Holy Spirit.  As you pray remember that God’s resources are UNLIMITED, so whatever is lacking in your life right now, ask God to meet that lack and supply all you need.

Today’s Challenge:  I will live as one whose needs ARE met by our great God whose resources are unlimited!

Wednesday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:17-18
17Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.  Ephesians 3:17-18 NLT

What is the prerequisite for Christ Jesus to make His home in our hearts?  How do we do that in daily life?

Can we truly understand “how wide, how long, how high, and how deep” God’s love is?  Why or why not?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time to ask God to fill you with His love to overflowing, so that you may offer it to everyone you come in contact with today.  Pray that your love will be exhibited by trusting God enough to obey Him in ALL He calls you to be and do today, and take time to THANK Him for Jesus!

Today’s Challenge:  I will trust God enough to obey Him in all things! (Remember to love God is to trust Him enough to obey Him!)

Thursday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:19
19May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  Ephesians 3:19 NLT

What must we have in our lives in order to be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God (or ALL the fullness of God as the original Greek puts it)?

Think of some ways that you experience the love of Christ Jesus in daily life.

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time right now to experience the love of Jesus.  Listen to His voice.  Thank Him for His salvation and for shedding His blood on the cross for you.  Thank Him for all the ways He is bringing God’s fullness to your life and to our life together as New Life Christian Ministries.

Today’s Challenge:  I will live the love of Jesus in my life toward others today in my thoughts, words and actions!

Friday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:20
20Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 NLT

What is God able to accomplish in us according to this verse?

Why do you think we so often settle for so much less individually, in our families, and in our church family?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time right now to ask God to accomplish infinitely more in your life today than you could ask or think.  Ask Him to fill us all with the Holy Spirit that as a congregation we may also accomplish infinitely more than we could ask or think collectively!

Today’s Challenge:  I will live as an overcomer today, knowing that God is able to do more in and through me than I could ever imagine!

Saturday

Reflection on The Play Book:  Ephesians 3:21
21Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:21

This verse is called an “ascription of praise.”  Why would it be called that?

What does it tell us about how long God’s glory and Jesus’ presence is going to be with us?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time right now to ascribe praise to God for all He is and all He does! [Note that this is how we started our week!]  Remember:  All successful spiritual endeavor springs forth from an atmosphere of worship and praise.

Today’s Challenge:  I will ascribe to God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit the glory due His holy name!
