The Game Plan

The Game Plan: Life Management

To lead people to understand that the way we invest everything that God has entrusted to us – time, talents and money – is the surest measure of Jesus’ lordship in our lives.

God's Word for You: Philippians 2:12-18 NIV

12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. 14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. 17But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NIV

3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Monday

Reflection on The Play Book:
12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:12-13 NIV

What does this say about God’s part and our part in salvation?

What does it say about what a life is intended

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time to ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit so you can work out your salvation with fear and trembling!

Today’s Challenge:  I will work out my salvation by living in purity today AND by being filled with the Holy Spirit!

Tuesday

Reflection on The Play Book:
14Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.  Philippians 2:14-16 NIV

Why is it so important for us as Jesus’ followers to do everything without complaining or arguing?

What is the result of such a life?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit so you will live your day blamelessly and purely to His glory!

Today’s Challenge:  I will live in the Holy Spirit today that I may be blameless and “shine like [a] star in the universe”!

Wednesday

Reflection on The Play Book:
17But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.  Philippians 2:17-18 NIV

Why would Paul want the Philippian believers to rejoice even if Paul was being put to death?

What does this say about our commitment to following Jesus no matter what?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time to ask God to strengthen you by His Spirit that you may face both blessing and adversity with joy, because either way you are living in and for Him!

Today’s Challenge:  I will live in the joy of the Holy Spirit today regardless of my circumstances!

Thursday

Reflection on The Play Book:
3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  2 Corinthians 10:3 NIV

What does the Apostle Paul mean by this statement?

As you go about your daily life, do you usually think of yourself as “waging a war”?  Why or why not?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Ask God to give you wisdom and strength to wage the war of life His way!

Today’s Challenge:  I will live this day as a warrior for God, using His methods to help others know His salvation!

Friday

Reflection on The Play Book:
4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV

What does Paul mean when he says that our weapons are not the weapons of the world?

What are the “strongholds” of which Paul speaks?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time to ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit that you may engage the enemy with confidence and protection!

Today’s Challenge:  I will engage the enemy-Satan-using the weapons of God and not my own strength!

Saturday

Reflection on The Play Book:
5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

What is the significance of this verse when it comes to the discipline necessary to do God’s will in our lives?

Who provides the arguments that we must “demolish”?

The Game Plan:  Take a Knee!  Prayer Focus for the Day!
Take time to consider God’s strategy for your day in prayer with Him!

Today’s Challenge:  I will submit my every thought to Jesus that He may guide my life to His glory!
